U.S. and International Management Courses taught by Professor Murphy Global Management – a course that indentifies and discusses the basic leadership competencies for Global Management. Moreover, it provides opportunities for students to apply the learned principles and strategies in a number of realistic simulations. (Taught in Europe and the U.S.) Benefits – a comprehensive course covering the principles and design elements of retirement, social security, health care, health care reform and social security reform issues. The course also explores the value proposition of benefits, and covers expatriot compensation and benefit practices, as well as a range of other benefits sponsored by employers and governments both in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. (Taught in the U.S.) Human Capital Metrics – a new approach to management introducing the use of metrics and data to measure the operational, economic, and financial effectiveness of a variety of management practices. (Taught in the U.S.) Human Resource Management – a course for graduate students covering the basic human resource practices ranging from organizational and job design, to HR forecasting, to recruiting and selection, training and development, the reward system, and employee relations. (Taught in Europe and the U.S.) Negotiations and Conflict Resolution – a unique course comprising lectures on a variety of conflict resolution principles, strategies, and best practices as well as a number of simulations and cases allowing the students to develop their own negotiation and conflict resolution skills. (Taught in Europe and the U.S.) Employment Law – a course covering the variety of laws applying to the workplace from discrimination to government mandated benefits. Employment discrimination, harassment, labor relations, employee benefit laws, and labor safety and standards are all explored. Comparisons to EU employment law are also included in the course. (Taught in the U.S.) Total Rewards – Employment Compensation – Total Rewards and Compensation and can be dynamic drivers of a company's business strategy. In this course a range of compensation practices are explored. The course also shows how a compensation plan is developed, how its underlying strategic objectives are linked to the business plan, the legal framework applicable to compensation plans, and the impact of compensation as measured by the success of the enterprise. (Taught in the U.S.) All courses comprise lecture, class discussion, analysis and assignments involving the instructor's mini cases as well as research assignments, and student simulations. |
